Rio Mar is a poor community of Nagua. As we walked through narrow dirt roads, past dilapidated shacks and children peeking from behind open doorways, I could not help but think that Jesus would have hung out here. Many children left their homes to follow us, most of them walking without shoes and the younger ones without clothing.

We entered the home of an elderly couple who lived next to a river in which trash floated freely and sewage drained regularly. The shack they called home, a single room without running water or electricity, functioned as a kitchen, dining room, bathroom, and bedroom. After introducing ourselves and getting to know a few things about the couple, we shared with them God’s plan for salvation and both husband and wife prayed to trust Christ!

In another home, an older woman invited us in and had her children and grandchildren sit down to hear God’s plan for them from the book of Romans. The woman chose not to begin a personal relationship with Christ, but her entire family heard the gospel!

We left amazed at the faith of the people, as nearly everyone we shared the gospel with trusted in Christ. The power of God is changing the people of Rio Mar, the people of Rio Mar will change this nation, and this nation will change the world!

Kent Thomas, Luke Thomas, and Logan Larson have finished their fist mini-video showing their passion for skateboarding. Wherever they go, they draw crowds, bringing many opportunities to share Christ with the Dominican kids. Check out the video below, piped in from YouTube. There is no sound in this version of the video. Enjoy!
