January 2010

Over the last few days EDM has been busy helping to cooridinate the transportation of a Medical Emergency Team, sent from Hope International, that arrives this Tuesday in Santo Domingo.  They will be driving into Haiti from the Dominican side on their way to Port a Prince to provide much needed emergency trauma help.  We are also sending a truck load of much needed supplies for some missionary friends who are ministering in Port a Prince with the Medical Emergency team.  They contacted us to let us know they are running out of food and water for themselves, as well as thousands of Haitians camped out in their compound and in a nearby field that they are ministering too. In a few days we will be posting ways that you can give to help with this relief.  Not only are we planning to continue to send help into Haiti, but we also want to coordinate efforts to provide relief for the growing number of refugees fleeing into the Dominican Republic.

Although the earthquake was barely felt here in the Dominican Republic, most of you know that Port a Prince, in Haiti, has been devastated with many thousands wounded and dead.  Our friends and pastors that call Haiti home have been prayerfully trying to contact family and friends with no success as most forms of communication are non-existent.  It is hard to imagine the destruction we are seeing and hearing about, but every wounded or dead person is a brother, a sister, a son, a daughter, a husband, a wife, a mother, or a father.  Please pray for Haiti, and especially the people of Haiti, all across the world, who are being impacted by this.  EDM, along with the pastors in this area, do plan to respond in some way to this disaster.  We will post further information in the next few days.
