God never ceases to amaze me. Today, with a team from both Canada and the States, we visited the community of Las Cejas; which is located between the rice fields as far as one can see. We witnessed the Lord restore and heal people. Francisco had his vision restored after 2 years of suffering. Oh how this man rejoiced! Santo, a man who through disease had lost the ability to walk or even move his legs, was standing up with the use of a chair and moving about his one room house before we left. There were numerous testimonies today of how the Lord infused His people with His love and joy and restored what had been taken. God was there! God heard the cries of His people. God is faithful!

Making Memories
Posted Sat 19 Jun 2010
It was an adventurous trip to the Capitol today. What we thought would be a simple trip to the Botanical Gardens with the Women of Destiny group turned out to be an interesting detour through the open market of Santo Domingo. It was crammed with vendors of fruits, vegetables and a variety of other products…but what was most impressive were the truckloads and truckloads of unending plantains! Also, as we attempted to squeeze through the narrow passages of what was left of the streets, there were many near misses by various vendors peddling their portable/bicycle storefronts. The van full of ladies all laughed together through our adventure. We finally arrived at the Botanical Gardens after our 50 minute “extra tour” and everyone was happy to be there. The gardens were beautiful and we enjoyed our guided tour until the downpour of rain. However, it stopped so we could visit the Japenese Garden and take a few pictures and then as we boarded…it rained again! Oh we laughed so much throughout the day. We ended our day with a lunch together in one of the local’s favorite diners. Together we shared chicken, cooked bananas, rice and beans and salad. There was a lot of laughter around the table as the remarked about their favorite part of the tour…the adventure of the plantains. Memories are what one makes of them….make the best of whatever God brings your way. Smile and make sure you laugh.
Good Day for Soccer

Today we held a soccer clinic in Nagua to over 75 children and teens. A couple of visiting team members taught soccer skills and drills. We then held a scrimmage. Everyone had fun–from the spectators to the players. Afterwards one of the team members, who holds a soccer scholarship to a private university, shared her testimony. She told the many young people about her great love for soccer and the trials and triumphs along the way…but most importantly she shared her greatest love of all…Jesus Christ. Everyone there heard about the difference that Christ can make in our lives and our great need for Him…for now and for our future. Dozens of young people, made a decision to receive Christ as their Savior today. Today was a good day for soccer.
In the Hills of Rio San Juan

In the hills of Rio San Juan, we gathered under a beautiful fruit tree as we praised our King. We gathered with Pastora Elena and her congregation to celebrate together as we will be joining forces this week to complete her church. A team from Canada’s New Life Community Church is here to help. There was so much excitement in the air. Pastora Elena’s worship leader, Nelson, declared that as they were praising Jesus in the mountains and asking Him for help, Jesus heard them and motivated others from North America to respond. They rejoiced and we thanked God for allowing us to be a part of answered prayer. We will keep you posted with the progress.
