For the last week we have been making trips into the outer reaches of the area we work in. From traversing the incredibly bumpy road in Las Coles to almost getting lost on our way to La Mata, it has been an adventuresome series of treks, but thankfully with much fruit! We were able to personally meet some pastors that we had not connected with prior to this, and we were able to hear about their God-given visions for their churches and communities. Although all of their church projects have run out of funds to continue, they are excited and encouraged, because their God has never and will never fail them! Please stay tuned to our projects page as we will be updating it in the days to come with these new church construction endeavors. Please pray about partnering with us to build a church here in the Dominican Republic. It can make and has made a phenomenal difference in the lives of the pastors, their churches, and the impact they have on their communities.

“Fire In My Bones” was the theme of the pastors and leaders conference that took place today in Nagua. It was a phenomenal day in God’s presence. Over 900 people attended, and the place literally shook with the praises of God’s people. The message was powerful and transforming, and the time of musical worship unforgettable. We had some incredible speakers from the Toronto, Canada area, an awesome worship team from Nagua, a Dominican worship singer, and a team of volunteers from different churches in town. We were also able, with the help of churches in North America, to feed over 800 people lunches! Everyone went home equipped, empowered, and encouraged, and like the title of the conference, and Jeremiah’s proclamation, we all have fire in our bones… the fire of the Holy Spirit. This region will never be the same again. The kingdom of God is advancing here in the Dominican Northeast.

It is to be a very busy and blessed month here in the North-East Region. Our first August team arrived and we are preparing to put the finishing touches on two construction products, distribute scholarship packages to 110 school-age children, and minister through evangelism and preaching. We are all praising God for the disintegration of formerly named tropical storm Emily. It was threatening to make our team week a wet one, but praise God for His intervention. Please pray for us as we work in a new area called SamanĂ¡, that spiritual rains of blessings would saturate this province.

Several days ago we met with a new group of pastors from an adjacent province to present our ministry and invite them to a regional conference in August. The response was favorable as we stated our message that God has called us here to equip, empower, and encourage the pastors in their God-given callings and visions. This is very exciting for us as we look to God for His strategies for helping His church bring Him glory in this new area. We are doing the first regional open-air evangelism event in this area in the beginning of August. Please remember this are in your prayers!

It was a God-filled week here in the North-East region of the Dominican. After a full 7 days of hard work and ministry, we stopped to take tabs on the myriads of God moments with the team from Barrie. The physical accomplishments were exciting indeed: a newly poured floor and altar for the church in Rincones, and a freshly dug foundation for the extension of the walls of the church in Mella. We wish you could see the smiles and feel the joy of these pastors and communities. As impressive as the physical accomplishments were, the spiritual waves of blessing that flowed through the communities were even more powerful. The team testimonies, preaching, and door to door ministry planted precious seeds that will produce fruit for eternity. Thank-you to the Barrie team and praise God for His continued work of equipping and empowering the Dominican church!

The past few days with a team from Canada have been phenomenal. We have been working in the towns of Rincones de Boba and today in Mella. In addition to the great quantity of construction work on the Rincones church, where yesterday we started and finished the floor, we were able to start on the newest church project in the town of Mella. In the day we worked at digging part of the footing ditch and tearing down an old, cracked block wall to make room for the new church building. Every family in the community was invited out to an open-air service which was held this evening. As the pastor shared a powerful message on the love of God, everyone in attendance was captivated by the Word. Some people bowed their heads and other raised their hands in praise to God for His incredible love. The team prayed for the pastors and church members in attendance from 5 different towns, and then the pastors in turn prayed for the team. The church in that region has been encouraged and empowered and God has been greatly glorified.

The crowd of women pastors and pastors’ wives cheered and praised God so loudly, the roof seemed to lift up. It was a powerful conclusion to the two-day “24 Hours For You” Women of Destiny Conference in Nagua. The powerful and pointed teachings were received with joy and with tears and aimed to build up the women in ministry in the region where EDM works. They were encouraged this weekend to rise up and change their world and to be spiritual lionesses in their region. Many of them received this empowering word for the first time, and others were reminded to continue to walk in their divine callings. All the women left this afternoon with big smiles and couldn’t stop talking about the wonderful time of teachings and discussion. Praise God for this powerful and effective ministry: Women of Destiny.

It was a busy day yesterday as we moved equipment, cleaned the hall, and decorated for the annual “24 Hours For You” Women of Destiny conference. It was a flurry of continuous activity in the meeting room for about 4 hours as the ladies decorated, the guys set up the tables and sound equipment, the worship team practiced, and the intercessor team prayed. Please join with us in prayer for all the ladies attending the conference from 5PM (EST) today, Friday until 5PM tomorrow, Saturday. God has great things in store!

Today was another packed day as EDM ministered in a local church in the morning with guest preacher, Pastor Stewart Hunter. The church is in the community of Pajita under the leadership of Pastor Jimosen, who is also the president of the ministerial. Then in the late afternoon, we held a marriage seminar in one of the local churches in San Raphael. Pastora Marianna had been praying and preparing for this event, and had invited many people from the community. Pastor Stewart shared from his heart some practical marriage tips, as well as the importance of having a marriage with a strong foundation in Christ. At the end, we had the opportunity to pray for many couples who needed prayer for their relationships and families.

EDM ministered today in a small community way up in the hills. The road was filled with potholes and some very rough patches, but the view was spectacular. The ride was well worth it, as we spent the next few hours with like minded believers who did not hold back in their prayers or worship. We shared from God’s Word on being a vessel of honor for God, set apart, useful to God, and prepared for good works. The response to the challenge to commit to be a vessel of honor was overwhelming as the majority of the congregation stepped forward in commitment. What a privilege it is to bring the truth of God’s Word even to some of the remotest areas. Many pastors were in attendance as well, and we know new bridges and connections were made today with a group of pastors that we will have the opportunity to empower and equip. Pray for the pastors and churches in these remote communities, who are often overlooked and ignored.
